Scope and preparation

Start with a layout showing the compressor, receiver, dryer, filters and main air users. Review ventilation, cooling-air discharge, drainage, service clearance and the route of the distribution pipework.

What to consider

Size distribution pipework for the required flow and allowable pressure drop. A ring main can support multiple workstations; isolation points and accessible drains should be considered during design.

Planning the work

Confirm electrical supply, foundations, offloading and contractor responsibilities before work starts. The installation quotation should define included equipment, pipework boundaries and commissioning.
